Diego Mauricio, the all-time leading goalscorer of Odisha FC, has officially parted ways with the club after an impactful five-year stint. This move marks the end of an era for the Kalinga Warriors as they look to rebuild after a disappointing ISL season.

Diego Mauricio Leaves Legacy Behind at Odisha FC

Throughout his time at the club, Diego Mauricio was the heart of Odisha FC’s attacking unit. Playing under three different coaches – Stuart Baxter, Josep Gombau, and Sergio Lobera – the Brazilian striker remained a consistent performer, known for his ability to deliver in clutch moments.

In the 2024-25 ISL season alone, Diego Mauricio scored 9 goals and contributed 6 assists in 22 appearances. Fans loved him not only for his skills on the pitch but also for his humble demeanor and passion for the game, often leading Viking Clap celebrations at Kalinga Stadium.

A True Club Legend

Over five seasons, Diego Mauricio racked up 88 appearances, netting 44 goals and assisting 13 times. He shares the rare feat of playing 100+ matches for Odisha FC alongside Jerry and Carlos Delgado. His loyalty and dedication have earned him legendary status among the fans.

Odisha FC Plans New Beginning

With Mauricio’s departure, Odisha FC is expected to restructure its foreign lineup. Another forward, Roy Krishna, is also out of contract, hinting at further changes. Head coach Sergio Lobera may look toward familiar ISL names like Jorge Pereyra Diaz or Jordan Murray as potential replacements.

The club’s focus now shifts to finding a striker who can step into the big shoes left by Diego Mauricio and lead the frontline in the upcoming season.
