Pokhara Thunders have announced two new foreign players for the third season of the Nepal Super League (NSL). The club has signed SaidDoston Djafarov from Uzbekistan and Biassi Nyakwe from Cameroon as their latest international recruits.
With this signing, Pokhara Thunders have now added four foreign players to their squad. They are still expected to announce two more international players in the coming days.
Earlier, Pokhara had already signed experienced forward Stephan Samir Binong, who has played in Nepal’s A Division League and NSL before, along with Nigerian veteran striker Michael Ijezie Chukwubuena.
The addition of these two new foreign players helps balance the team. Pokhara has also selected young national forward Samir Tamang as their new marquee player. Additionally, Ayush Ghalan, who was their marquee player in the second season of NSL, has now been named the captain of the team.
Another key signing is forward Nawayug Shrestha, who was Pokhara’s marquee player in the first season and has now returned to the team for the third edition of NSL.
Pokhara Thunders have also made changes to their coaching staff. They have appointed Suman Shrestha as their new head coach, completely revamping their coaching setup for the upcoming season.
In the previous edition of NSL, Pokhara finished at the top of the league stage but failed to secure the championship after losing both qualifiers. This time, they aim to complete their unfinished mission and lift the trophy.
For the third season, Pokhara has retained key national team midfielder Ayush Ghalan, along with defenders Padam Bhattarai and Narendra Chaudhary. They have also signed national team midfielder Suraj Jyu Thakuri and several other players from the NSL auction.
The Nepal Super League 2025 is set to begin on March 29, with Pokhara Thunders playing their first match against FC Chitwan on March 31.
