Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Pays Tribute to Beloved Dog Hobbs, Preps for WWE Comeback

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is mourning the loss of his beloved French bulldog, Hobbs, who was named after his character in the Fast & Furious franchise. In a heartfelt Instagram tribute on Tuesday, the 52-year-old actor described feeling “numb” over the passing of his dog, sharing his appreciation for the unconditional love Hobbs gave to his family. He also expressed comfort in knowing that Hobbs did not suffer and peacefully passed away during the night.

Johnson shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram, showcasing the special moments he shared with Hobbs, from playful games to tender moments of affection. Reflecting on the dog’s impact, Johnson admitted that there have been challenges in his life that were hard to talk about, but he found solace in the companionship Hobbs offered. He ended his tribute with a touching wish, expressing hope that Hobbs’ spirit would visit him occasionally so they could laugh and get into mischief once again.

Hobbs joined Johnson’s family in 2016, alongside another French bulldog, Brutus. Sadly, Brutus passed away that same year after consuming a toxic mushroom. Hobbs was more than just a pet to Johnson; he played a role in the 2019 film Hobbs & Shaw, a spinoff of the Fast & Furious series. Johnson humorously remarked on Instagram about the dog’s appearance in the movie, joking about “nepotism,” and praised Hobbs for his vibrant energy and performance.

On the professional front, Dwayne Johnson continues to thrive in both acting and wrestling. He is set to star in a new film about the Hawaiian mob, directed by Martin Scorsese, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt. The film will delve into the turf wars of 1960s-70s Hawaii, where local gangs fought against American business interests.

In addition, Johnson is making a surprise return to WWE. He will appear on SmackDown at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, sparking rumors of a potential match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas this April. WWE Chief Content Officer, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, hinted that Johnson’s appearance could lead to a major announcement as WrestleMania approaches.
