Actor Rupali Ganguly is once again facing public scrutiny after a post from her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, went viral on social media. In the post, Esha criticized Rupali, calling her “evil” and accusing her of scheduling a court hearing on her birthday. This marked the latest chapter in a family dispute that began last year when a 2020 post by Esha resurfaced, causing a stir online.
Esha’s recent social media post, which was shared on her Instagram Story, mentioned the court hearing coinciding with her birthday, and she blamed Rupali for allegedly planning it that way. “Ty to the evil step lady for scheduling the next court date on my bday muah,” she wrote. The post was quickly deleted, but not before it was captured and spread by news outlets.
However, after the screenshot made rounds, Esha attempted to clarify the situation. She explained that the post had been meant for a close friend, not for public viewing. She wrote, “I use my socials to connect with my friends and share my thoughts—it’s always been a personal space for me. I was just typing out my feelings before bed and had meant to send it to a close friend, but it accidentally went to my story. I wasn’t trying to start anything or make this public—it was just me processing my emotions in the moment.” Esha further expressed that seeing her court date fall on her birthday had been overwhelming and that she was frustrated by feeling constantly monitored. She also lamented how her private posts were often turned into sensational headlines.
The tensions within the family first came to light in 2020 when Esha accused Rupali of causing the breakdown of her parents’ marriage. She claimed that Rupali had even visited her home in New Jersey and slept in her mother’s bed, which she alleged was a betrayal. Esha also accused Rupali of subjecting her and her mother to various forms of abuse—physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally—leading to significant trauma. These allegations led to a defamation notice from Rupali, who demanded ₹50 crore in damages, claiming that Esha’s actions had damaged her reputation and career.
In the wake of this, Esha deleted all social media posts related to Rupali and set her Instagram account to private. However, she has since made her Instagram public again.
