The Everest Marathon 2025 took place on Thursday in Solukhumbu, with Nepali runners making a clean sweep in nearly every category of the event.
Suman Kulung Wins Full Marathon
In the men’s 42-kilometer full marathon, Suman Kulung took first place with an impressive time of 3:50:26 hours. He was followed by Gopal Tamang, who finished second in 3:55:12 hours. Arjun Kulung Rai secured third place with a time of 4:02:35 hours.
Lakpa Ngama Sherpa Leads Women’s Race
In the women’s full marathon, Lakpa Ngama Sherpa claimed the title, clocking 5:15:46 hours. Anita Rai followed in second place (5:28:09), while Dil Kala Kulung completed the top three (6:40:31).
Nepal Sweeps Extreme Ultra Category
Nepali runners also led the Extreme Ultra Category (70 km). Man Kumar Rana Magar finished first with a time of 8:08:07 hours. Kiran Kulung came in second (8:33:45), and Dhan Raj Kulung secured third (8:35:01).
Foreign Runners in the Spotlight
While Nepalis dominated, international athletes also had strong showings in the full marathon.
- Men’s Foreign Category: Rune Hany from Norway won in 5:19:32 hours. Sam Veyvoret (Belgium) and Serge Joshua Albahoaye (UK) placed second and third, respectively.
- Women’s Foreign Category: Jin Zhu from the USA took the title, completing the race in 7:11:01 hours. Veronica Giuffre Serata (Moldova) and Adela Megaschiedova (Czech Republic) followed.
Half Marathon Results
In the 21-kilometer half marathon, Jordi Andreau from Spain secured first place. Amar Subba from India finished second, and Mark John Stobell of the UK came in third.
