Covered pitch during rain in KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 match

KKR faced a major blow to their campaign in IPL 2025 after their clash against RCB on May 17 was washed out due to rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Both teams received one point each, which pushed Rajat Patidar-led RCB to the top of the table with 17 points from 12 games. They now sit above Gujarat Titans (GT) in the standings.

KKR stay sixth in the IPL 2025 points table

Meanwhile, KKR remain in sixth place with 12 points from 13 matches. Their season so far includes five wins, six losses, and two no-results. With only one game left to play, even a win won’t get them into the top four, confirming their elimination.

Defending champions can’t repeat last season’s glory

KKR, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, were hoping to defend their title after winning IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, their inconsistency and weather misfortune ended those dreams early.

They will play their final league game on May 25 against SRH at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Top four already beyond KKR’s reach

The top four teams in the IPL 2025 points table already have 14 or more points, making it mathematically impossible for KKR to qualify, even if they win their last game. The Knight Riders are now the fourth team to be eliminated from the playoffs race.

They join CSK, RR, and SRH as teams confirmed to miss the knockout stage this season.
