The movie ‘Bhutan’, featuring actor Hari Bansha Acharya in the lead role, is set to release on Baisakh 12.
Directed by Binod Paudel, the film stars Hari Bansha Acharya alongside Dayahang Rai, Anuradha Majumdar, Puja Chand, Richa Ghimire, Joyes Pandey, Aditi Pyakurel, Tom Crane, Bimal Subedi, and Hollywood actor Bruce Dern in a special role. Several Hollywood technicians have also contributed to the film.
Director Paudel expressed confidence in the film’s universal appeal, saying, “This movie is made for audiences worldwide, and I am sure they will feel the depth and emotion of the story.”
One of the producers, Abiral Thapa, praised Hari Bansha Acharya’s performance and character in the film, calling it “timeless” and assured that it will become a “classic film.” The movie’s global release will happen simultaneously, with Nepal’s RR Films Production handling domestic distribution and Hollywood distributors managing the global launch.
The film revolves around the pain of Bhutanese refugees forced to leave their homeland and their love for their country. It highlights their journey from Bhutan to Nepal and eventually to the United States. The shooting of ‘Bhutan’ was completed in the U.S. a few months ago.
The movie features cinematography by Sushan Prajapati, editing by Anjay Khadka, production design by Bimal Subedi, and art direction by India’s Anjan Gajurel.
