A fire that broke out at Central Plaza, a commercial building in Itahari, Sunsari, has been brought under control. According to Sunsari’s Chief District Officer, Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, the fire has now been fully extinguished.
The fire started around 9:30 AM and was brought under control after about six and a half hours.
To control the fire, 12 fire trucks were deployed along with teams from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force.
“The cause of the fire is still unknown,” said CDO Mishra. “We have checked all the rooms in the plaza, and no fire remains.”
The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the plaza. Eleven people who were trapped on the seventh floor were rescued by helicopter.
Among the rescued, there were three women and eight men. One person suffered minor injuries but was discharged from the hospital after treatment.
Seven security personnel involved in the rescue operation also sustained minor injuries. This included five from Nepal Police, one from the Armed Police Force, and one from the Nepal Army.

- Bishal Singh, 28, from Biratnagar-15, Morang
- Ashish Chaudhary, 24, from Ramdhuni-7, Sunsari
- Two other individuals whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
