A massive fire broke out at Danphe Hotel, located on the shores of Rara Lake, on Wednesday night, destroying four buildings. According to the District Police Office, Mugu, the blaze was triggered by the explosion of a gas cylinder inside the hotel.
The fire completely reduced the hotel’s wooden structures to ashes. Security personnel, including the Nepal Army, police, and Armed Police Force, managed to bring the fire under control by Thursday morning.
DSP Saroj Giri, chief of the District Police Office, Mugu, stated that he was on his way to the site for further assessment. “The fire has been contained, but the extent of the damage is yet to be determined,” he said.
Authorities quickly evacuated guests from the hotel and relocated them to nearby accommodations, including other hotels, an army barrack, and the national park office. A detailed report on the incident is yet to be released.
