A fire broke out at the main pavilion of a religious event (Mahayagya) held in the industrial area of Rupani Rural Municipality, Saptari. The incident happened on Monday evening, the last day of the nine-day Mahayagya which had started on April 4 (21 Baisakh).
According to the District Police Office in Saptari, the fire destroyed the pavilion along with clothes and religious items kept there.
Police believe the fire started due to a short circuit in an electric wire hanging above the pavilion.
The fire was brought under control with the help of a fire truck from Rajbiraj Municipality.
