A fire in Sunsari destroyed 26 houses and huts on Monday afternoon. The fire broke out in Muldaiya Tole, Harinagar Rural Municipality-5, where nine families lived. This area is home to the Muslim community.

The fire started on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, a festival celebrated by Muslims after Ramadan. The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to the police.

The fire began at around 3 PM and was brought under control by 4:30 PM with the help of fire brigades from Dewanganj, Koshi Rural Municipality, Inaruwa, Duhabi Municipality, and Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City.

The police reported that the fire caused a loss of property worth around 3.1 million rupees. Houses belonging to Sikindra Ali, Juber Ali, Sabir Miyan, Abul Helal Miyan, Imtiaz Miyan, Asfaq Alam, Ansak Alam, Pravez Miyan, Irfan Miyan, Kaiser Alam, and Paiyaz Alam were destroyed. Food, clothes, and cash were also lost in the fire, bringing the total damage to 3.149 million rupees.
