A massive explosion in a fireworks warehouse in Gujarat, India, on Tuesday led to a fire, killing 17 people and injuring five others.
The incident occurred in the Deesa town of Banaskantha district, causing part of the warehouse to collapse. Several people were trapped inside. Most of the victims were workers present at the site.
Initially, police reported six deaths, but the number increased after the fire was brought under control and rescue operations continued. The exact number of workers present at the time is still unknown.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, with around 200 personnel, including police, municipal staff, and district officials, involved in the operation.
Authorities have started investigating the incident. They are also assessing the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
