Five Nepali laborers who had been facing difficult conditions while working in Gujarat, India, have been safely rescued and returned home to their families.
Workers Were Abused and Exploited
The workers were employed at Ramdev Cold Store in Johrapura village of Gujarat. According to Vijay Yadav, the chairperson of Tirhut Rural Municipality, the contractor had physically abused them and subjected them to both mental and physical torture. Instead of paying them as per the agreement, the contractor used threats and exploited their labor.
The rescued individuals include 60-year-old Sakaldev Sada from Tirhut-4, and 28-year-old Chandan Khang and Shailendra Sada from Hanumannagar Kankalini-8, along with two others.
Coordinated Rescue Effort
Chairperson Yadav said that the rescue operation was made possible through the efforts of Kumar Abhinav, a journalist and cyber security analyst, who coordinated with the Nepal National Musahar Association and helped bring the workers back safely.
Shivdev Sada, the president of the Nepal National Musahar Association in Saptari, stated that the rescue was successful due to strong cooperation between local authorities in Gujarat, Chairperson Yadav, and engineer-journalist Abhinav.
