Flights Disrupted at Nepalgunj Airport

Flights at Nepalgunj Airport have been disrupted since early this morning due to heavy fog, reducing visibility to just 50 meters, according to Traffic Controller Rinki Mallik of the Civil Aviation Office, Nepalgunj.

She explained that the visibility required for flights is currently insufficient, making it impossible for planes to take off or land. Nepalgunj Airport handles over 50 daily flights to destinations like Kathmandu, Dhangadhi, Pokhara, and various hilly districts.

Mallik stated that a minimum visibility of 1,000 meters is necessary for takeoff, while 1,600 meters is required for landing.

With flights halted, passengers traveling to Kathmandu and hilly regions are waiting at the airport. Meanwhile, the cold wave in the area has also disrupted daily life.
