Fluminense have landed in Caxias do Sul this Saturday with a major boost: veteran defender Thiago Silva is back in the squad. The team is set to face Juventude this Sunday at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium in the Brazilian League.

The Tricolor will also have Riquelme Felipe available again, while forward Agustín Canobbio has been ruled out due to injury.

Thiago Silva fit for Fluminense vs Juventude

After missing Fluminense’s midweek fixture in the Conmebol Sudamericana, Thiago Silva has been cleared to return. Although he played in the previous Brazilian League game against Atlético-MG, the club opted to give him extra rest due to the synthetic pitch and his recent recovery from a thigh injury.

Now, fully fit, Thiago Silva is expected to start against Juventude, strengthening Fluminense’s defense.

Riquelme returns after long injury

Riquelme Felipe has recovered from a grade 2 knee injury that kept him out of action for nearly two months. He picked up the injury during training at the CT Carlos Castilho. His return gives the team more options on the left flank.

Canobbio sidelined with facial fracture

One of the key absences is forward Agustín Canobbio. He suffered a facial fracture early in the match against Unión Española and will undergo surgery this Saturday. According to Fluminense’s medical team, the fracture is on the left side of his face, affecting the zygomatic bone. The striker will need to undergo a maxillofacial procedure.

Brazilian League standings and recent form

Fluminense currently sits fifth in the Brazilian League table with 13 points. They are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 defeat to Atlético-MG in their last league match at the Arena MRV.

Players visit consulate for Club World Cup preparations

Several Fluminense players also visited the consulate recently to begin their visa process for the upcoming Club World Cup.
