Phadindra Nepal, the founder of Greater Nepal, was arrested by police while staging a sit-in at the southern gate of Singha Durbar. He was taken into custody and brought to the Singha Durbar Police Circle.
Nepal was protesting against the government’s alleged irresponsibility in the recent Lipulekh dispute. Carrying a banner around his neck that read, “When will the government reclaim Lipulekh?”, he concealed it under his jacket as he approached the gate of Singha Durbar. His plan was to hold a solo sit-in from 12 PM to 2 PM today.
Upon reaching the gate, he removed his jacket and displayed the banner. However, according to Nepal, he was arrested by the police within a minute of doing so. He also mentioned that he is currently being held at the Singha Durbar Police Circle.
Earlier, Nepal had informed about his plan to stage the sit-in at the southern gate of Singha Durbar through a Facebook post.
Phadindra Nepal’s Social Media Post:
“Despite witnessing India’s encroachment on Lipulekh, the government continues to act as if nothing has happened. Moreover, when China and India agreed to use Lipulekh, the government irresponsibly dismissed it as a technical matter between the two nations. If such protests are not carried out, the government will remain silent, continue to serve as India’s subordinate, and fail to protect Nepal’s territory. Therefore, to compel the government to act in favor of national sovereignty, it is imperative for citizens to rise in protest.
For this purpose, the Greater Nepal Nationalist Front will be holding a sit-in at the southern gate of Singha Durbar today from 12 PM to 4 PM.”
