A fugitive accused of murdering a young woman has been arrested by the police. According to the Area Police Office, Banepa, the arrested individual has been identified as 27-year-old Bharat Budhathoki from Khanda Devi Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2, in Ramechhap district.
Based on confidential information, the police arrested him on March 27 (Chaitra 14) in front of the Birgunj Customs Office gate in Birgunj Metropolitan City, Ward No. 16, while he was entering Nepal from Raxaul, India, according to DSP Gyan Bahadur Khadka, the chief of the Area Police Office, Banepa.
According to him, on February 27 (Falgun 15), Sharmila Shrestha was found dead in Room No. 115 of Hotel View and Pahuna Ghar, located in Banepa Municipality-8, Kavre district. Following an investigation into the incident, the police intensified their search for the fugitive accused and successfully arrested him, DSP Khadka stated.
The police further informed that the Kavrepalanchok District Court has granted a five-day extension for his custody, effective from March 27 (Chaitra 14), for further investigation.
