Goa Declares Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava Tax-Free

The Government of Goa has officially declared that the Hindi film Chhaava, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in the state. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant via a social media post on Wednesday.

Sawant emphasized the inspirational legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, noting that the film showcases his valor and sacrifices for his people. The decision follows a similar move by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who also declared the film tax-free on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 395th birth anniversary.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava features Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna. The film, adapted from the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant, has been well received by audiences and critics alike. As of its sixth day at the box office, the movie has earned ₹32 crore and is projected to surpass the ₹200-crore mark, making it the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2025.
