Google’s Gemini AI Now Remembers Past Conversations for a More Seamless Experience

Google has introduced a new memory feature for its Gemini AI chatbot, allowing it to recall and summarize past conversations, the company announced in a blog post on Thursday. This means users won’t need to repeat themselves or search through old chats to retrieve shared information.

The recall capability is launching today for English-speaking users subscribed to Google One AI Premium, a $20-per-month plan. Google plans to expand the feature to more languages and enterprise accounts in the coming weeks.

Designed to make interactions more personalized and efficient, the update may also raise privacy concerns. To address this, Google is offering users control over their chat history, allowing them to review, delete, or set how long data is stored. The recall feature can be completely disabled via the “My Activity” page in Gemini, and Google assures that user conversations are not used to train AI models.

Memory and recall capabilities are becoming a key focus for AI chatbot developers. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has previously stated that enhanced memory is one of the most requested features for ChatGPT.
