Google Expands Its Presence in India with a New Mega Office

Google has inaugurated its largest office in India, named ‘Ananta’, in Mahadevapura, Bangalore. Spanning 1.6 million square feet, this state-of-the-art facility was constructed by Bagmane Tech Park in just 11 months.

The new office can accommodate over 5,000 employees, making it a significant expansion for Google, which already has around 10,000 employees across India.

Meaning Behind ‘Ananta’ and Unique Office Design

Ananta’ is derived from Sanskrit, meaning infinite or limitless. Staying true to this concept, each floor of the building is designed to reflect the architectural essence of different Indian cities.

The office features spacious work areas and includes a theater-style meeting hall named ‘Sabha’, offering employees a dynamic and collaborative workspace.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Features

Google has integrated several sustainable technologies into the new office:

  • Smart glass windows help regulate temperature and reduce energy consumption.
  • Water recycling systems and rainwater harvesting mechanisms enhance sustainability.
  • The campus includes green gardens, walking and jogging tracks, and a noise-reducing forest area called ‘Aranya’ to complement Bangalore’s greenery.

The structure is built using locally sourced materials and follows environmentally friendly construction practices. It is also designed to be accessible for visually impaired individuals, featuring tactile flooring and Braille signage for navigation.

Google’s Commitment to India and AI Innovation

For over two decades, Google has contributed to India’s technological growth, introducing services like flood forecasting, tuberculosis detection, and Google Pay.

At the Ananta office inauguration, Google India’s Vice President, Preeti Lobana, emphasized Google’s strong commitment to India. She highlighted the company’s focus on expanding artificial intelligence (AI) applications for businesses and the general public.

Google plans to collaborate with Indian researchers and startups to advance AI-driven innovations in agriculture, healthcare, and finance, strengthening its role in India’s digital transformation.
