Nepali Congress MP Gyanendra Bahadur Khadka has highlighted the need for the government to give special priority to the Information Technology (IT) sector. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, he said that IT could become a major source of foreign income for the country.
MP Khadka explained that IT not only provides employment to the youth but also helps bring in foreign currency. He emphasized that the sector can play a vital role in strengthening Nepal’s overall economy and called on the government to act accordingly.
“IT does more than create jobs. It can earn foreign income and boost the country’s economic strength,” Khadka said in parliament. “That’s why I strongly request the government to give this sector top priority.”
He added that the government should start offering special support to the IT sector from this year itself. According to Khadka, this responsibility lies with the government, and it must be fulfilled to help Nepal’s digital future.
MP Khadka shared a striking fact: in 2024, more than 30,000 Nepali youths received online certificates in digital skills. This, he said, proves that young people in Nepal are ready to work in IT and contribute to the economy—if the government supports them in the right way.
