In the Pathibhara area of Taplejung, the government has decided to cover the medical treatment expenses for those injured during a clash related to the construction of a cable car.
On Tuesday, after a discussion with MPs, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak agreed to this decision, according to an MP who participated in the meeting. According to them, the decision was made to bear the treatment expenses for all those injured in the clash.
Additionally, it was decided to form a committee to address the issue and work towards a solution. The Home Minister mentioned that, after consulting with Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, they would decide who would lead the committee. After discussions with the Tourism Minister, a meeting with MPs would be held to finalize the committee’s formation. The Home Minister assured the MPs that the government was serious about resolving this issue.
Pathibhara Mukumlung Cable Car Darshan Pvt. Ltd. began construction work on kartik 23. There has been ongoing opposition between the company’s supporters and another group.
On Saturday, during a patrol by the police and armed police force, security personnel conducted a check at a hut based on information about suspicious activities. Weapons including bombs, khukuris, slingshots, and sticks were recovered from there.
This led to a clash between the two sides, resulting in 21 people being injured, including a police inspector. Four members of the ‘No Cable Car’ group were injured, two of whom were shot in the thigh.
Minister Lekhak had called for discussions with the representatives from Taplejung, Illam, Panchthar, and Tehrathum districts. The clash occurred last Saturday during the construction of the Pathibhara Cable Car, between the ‘No Cable Car’ group and the security forces.
