Recently, rumours surfaced on the internet claiming Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, were parting ways after nearly 38 years of marriage. However, in an exclusive interview with News18, the actor’s niece, Arti Singh, has strongly dismissed these claims, calling them “baseless gossip.”
Arti on Govinda-Sunita’s Divorce Rumours
Television actor Arti Singh spoke about the relationship between Govinda and Sunita, addressing the swirling divorce rumours. She said, “I am honestly not in Mumbai right now, so I haven’t been in touch with anybody. But let me tell you something—this is false news. These are just speculations because their bond is so strong. They have built a strong and loving relationship over the years, so how can they get divorced? I don’t know where people get all these rumours from—completely untrue. People should refrain from spreading misinformation about their personal lives. In fact, news about my divorce had also surfaced for no reason. Such baseless gossip only creates unnecessary stress.”
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s Divorce Rumours
While Arti Singh denies the rumours, a source told that Sunita allegedly sent a separation notice a few months ago, though there has been no further progress on the matter. Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, also commented on the situation, saying, “There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain family members. There is nothing more to it, and Govinda is in the process of starting a film, for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it.”
Govinda-Sunita’s Relationship
Sunita and Govinda’s relationship dates back long before he became a Bollywood superstar. They first met when Govinda was in his final year of B.Com, and Sunita was in Class 9. Their families were already connected, as her sister was married to Govinda’s maternal uncle, Anand Singh. The couple dated for three years before tying the knot on March 11, 1987. They have two children: a daughter, Tina Ahuja, and a son, Yashvardhan. Despite the recent rumours, the couple has not yet commented on the situation.
