Emraan Hashmi is set to return to the big screen with Ground Zero, a gripping war drama based on real events. Stepping into a completely new avatar, Emraan will portray BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, a pivotal figure in India’s fight against terrorism in Kashmir during the early 2000s.
Set against the backdrop of 2001, Ground Zero highlights a critical operation that took place after the 2001 Parliament Attack. During the trailer launch event, Emraan spoke passionately about the story’s significance. He shared, “This operation was crucial — it dismantled Jaish-E-Mohammed’s infrastructure between 2000 and 2003. For the next 13 years, they could not orchestrate a terrorist attack on Indian soil. It’s an incredible story that many aren’t aware of, and it was a story that needed to be told. Better late than never.”
The film also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepak Parmesh, Lalit Prabhakar, Rockey Raina, and Rahul Vohra, all in key roles.
Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, Ground Zero is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. The story, screenplay, and dialogues have been penned by Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Srivastava.
Ground Zero is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 25, 2025.
