Gujarat Titans have made a change in their squad after New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips was injured and ruled out for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Phillips suffered a groin injury while fielding as a substitute during Gujarat’s recent seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Due to the injury, he has returned home.
Shanaka’s Return to Gujarat Titans
To fill the gap left by Phillips, the Gujarat Titans have added Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka to their squad. Shanaka was part of the Gujarat Titans team in 2023 and played three matches for them. The team announced that Shanaka will join the squad for around $87,500.
Gujarat Titans’ Current Position in IPL
The Gujarat Titans are currently in second place in the IPL standings, with eight points from six matches. Their next match is against the leaders, Delhi Capitals, on Saturday.
This move is expected to strengthen Gujarat’s squad as they continue their IPL campaign.
