Mohammed Siraj came back to haunt his former team, grabbing 3 wickets for just 19 runs, while Jos Buttler smashed an unbeaten 73 off 39 balls as Gujarat Titans (GT) handed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) a crushing eight-wicket defeat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Siraj’s Fiery Spell Silences Chinnaswamy
For seven years, Siraj was RCB’s pace spearhead, lighting up Chinnaswamy with his iconic “siuuu” celebrations. But on Wednesday, wearing Gujarat Titans’ blue, his celebrations echoed in silence as he destroyed RCB’s top order.
Bowling at 145+ kmph, Siraj was ruthless in the powerplay. He cleaned up Devdutt Padikkal with a beauty and then sent Phil Salt’s off-stump cartwheeling with a 145.9 kmph rocket. Despite a fighting fifty from Liam Livingstone and late fireworks from Tim David, RCB crawled to 169/8—far from a safe total.
Buttler’s Bat Does the Talking Again
GT’s chase started cautiously, with RCB’s bowlers keeping it tight early on. But once Jos Buttler got his eye in, it was game over. He tore apart Rasikh Salam, launching him for 27 runs off just 12 balls. Sai Sudharsan chipped in with a solid 49, adding a crucial 75-run stand with Buttler.
By the time Sherfane Rutherford walked in as an Impact Sub, the game was already slipping away from RCB. Rutherford and Buttler made sure there was no twist, sealing the victory with 13 balls to spare.
GT Climb, RCB Slip
This dominant win gave GT their second victory in three matches, while RCB suffered their first loss of IPL 2025 after two impressive wins. The defeat pushed them down to third place behind Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
Siraj’s fire. Buttler’s power. GT’s statement win. A night to remember!
