Hacktivist Nepal Claim They Hacked Nepali Government Websites

A group calling themselves Hacktivist Nepal claim they hacked two Nepali government websites. These sites include the Department of Survey (dos.gov.np) and the District Forest Office Sunsari (dfosunsari.koshi.gov.np). The group says they did this to speak out against corruption and support the return of monarchy in Nepal.

Why Did Hacktivist Nepal Do This?

Hacktivist Nepal shared a strong message online. They said that democracy in Nepal has caused more corruption and political instability. According to the group, leaders today care more about their own interests than the people.

Due to democracy in Nepal, the level of corruption has reached its peak. Political instability and partisan interests have prioritized personal gain over the welfare of the people. Hacktivist Nepal supports the restoration of the monarchy, which could pave the way for national unity, long-term stability, and corruption-free governance, ensuring proper guidance for Nepal.

They added,

“Hacktivist Nepal supports the restoration of the monarchy, which could help bring national unity, long-term peace, and a system free from corruption.”

Government Websites They Targeted

The group claims they breached the following official websites:

  • dos.gov.np – This is the official website of the Department of Survey, responsible for land mapping and records across Nepal.
  • dfosunsari.koshi.gov.np – This site belongs to the District Forest Office in Sunsari, which looks after forest and environmental protection in Koshi Province.

They shared screenshots to show they got into these websites. However, no government office has yet confirmed if this really happened.

Is This a Political Message?

Yes. The hack seems to be more than just a technical attack. It looks like a political protest. Hacktivist Nepal is using cyberattacks to push their message in support of bringing back the monarchy in Nepal.

The group believes the monarchy can provide:

  • Strong national unity
  • Less corruption
  • Stable governance for the future

This view is supported by some people in Nepal who feel democracy hasn’t worked well since the monarchy ended in 2008.

What Problems Can This Cause?

If true, this attack shows that many Nepali government websites are not well protected. A cyberattack like this can cause:

  • Personal or public data getting leaked
  • Government services stopping or getting delayed
  • People losing trust in digital services

Cybersecurity experts in Nepal may now be under pressure to strengthen protection on all government platforms.

What Has the Government Said So Far?

As of now, no official statement has come from the affected websites or the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau. The National Information Technology Center (NITC) also hasn’t responded yet.

If the hack is real, we may soon see:

  • A government investigation into website security
  • New updates or budget for cybersecurity
  • Political debates about online protest and national leadership

Updates

Hacktivist Nepal’s claim is not just about hacking websites. It’s about sending a message to the people and the leaders of Nepal. While hacking is illegal, the group has used it to raise bigger questions about how Nepal is being run.

We will update this story as soon as the government confirms the incident or takes any action.
