Half-naked demonstrators raise voices for justice

Cooperative victims in Kathmandu took a bold step by staging a half-naked protest at Maiti Ghar, demanding the immediate return of their hard-earned savings. Frustrated by repeated delays and government inaction, these protesters want urgent action to recover their money.

Mostly men joined the demonstration this time, following earlier protests by women. They say peaceful protests have failed, leaving them no choice but to use this dramatic method to draw attention to their cause.

The victims insist the government should auction cooperative assets to repay depositors. They carry placards demanding the implementation of their proposed solutions, stopping middlemen from inflating land prices to harass victims, and creating a fund to ensure the safe return of all savings.

They stress that being half-naked is not a choice but a desperate call for justice. They warn that if their demands are ignored, they are ready to take even stronger steps.

This protest highlights the growing anger and desperation among thousands affected by failed cooperatives. The government faces increasing pressure to act swiftly and protect citizens’ savings before the situation worsens.
