As part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement with Israel, a list of 33 hostages to be freed from Hamas control has been made public. However, the name of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi is not included in this list.
The implementation of the ceasefire agreement began after Hamas announced the release of three female hostages on Sunday, in line with the agreement. Under this agreement, Israel had submitted a list of 33 individuals to be released immediately, and Hamas had pledged their release.
Five days ago, on January 15, 2025, a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Palestine through the efforts of Qatar, the United States, and Egypt.
Gaza Ceasefire
Although the ceasefire agreement was supposed to come into effect on Sunday at 6 AM, Israel launched an attack on Gaza due to a delay in Hamas providing the names of the hostages to be released.
Shortly after, Hamas announced the release of three hostages, and Israel declared the commencement of the ceasefire agreement.
Under the first phase of the ceasefire, Hamas is set to release the 33 hostages over the next six weeks. However, the name of Nepali citizen Bipin is not included in the list.
Bipin, who was in Israel for his studies, was taken hostage by Hamas from southern Israel on October 7, 2023. His current status remains unknown.
According to the BBC, the list of 33 hostages includes individuals ranging from 9-month-old Kfir Vivas to 86-year-old Shlomo Manzar. While in captivity, 9-month-old Kfir even celebrated his second birthday in detention.
