England has officially appointed Harry Brook as the new captain for both T20 Internationals and One Day Internationals. He takes over after Jos Buttler stepped down following the Champions Trophy in March.
A Familiar Role for Harry Brook
Harry Brook is no stranger to leadership. He has been serving as England’s white-ball vice-captain since last year. In September, he captained the side during a five-match ODI series against Australia when Buttler was unavailable.
Now, for the first time in an official role, Brook will lead England in three T20Is and three ODIs against the West Indies at the end of May.
A Dream Come True
“Becoming the captain of England is a huge honour,” Brook said. “Since childhood, I dreamed of playing for Yorkshire, representing England, and one day leading the national team. Today, that dream has come true.”
A Star in All Formats
Brook made his international debut in 2022 and has since become one of England’s key players across all formats. In Test cricket, he currently ranks as the second-best batter in the world, just behind teammate Joe Root.
One of his career highlights includes an outstanding 317-run knock against Pakistan in Multan, showcasing his ability to dominate at the highest level.
With leadership experience, strong form, and confidence on his side, all eyes will be on Brook as he begins a new chapter as England’s white-ball captain.
