Two major films—Akshay Kumar’s comedy-packed Housefull 5 and Kamal Haasan’s action-thriller Thug Life—are competing at the box office this week. While Thug Life released on Thursday, June 5, Housefull 5 is all set to hit theaters on Friday, June 6.
Advance Booking Highlights
Despite being a comedy, Housefull 5 has seen an impressive response in advance bookings. Over 1 lakh tickets were sold by 9 AM on Thursday, just a day before release. It has already collected ₹3.63 crore from pre-sales across 14,039 shows, according to Sacnilk.
In comparison, Thug Life made a stronger pre-release impact overall, earning ₹6.16 crore through advance bookings. However, ₹5.36 crore of that came from its Telugu version. The Hindi version only brought in ₹25.90 lakh, showing limited buzz among North Indian audiences. That gives Housefull 5 a clear edge—14 times ahead in the Hindi circuit.
Can Housefull 5 Set a Record?
With a massive cast of 19 stars, Housefull is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Tarun Mansukhani. It carries a whopping ₹375 crore budget (including promotion) and is considered one of the most expensive comedy films ever made.
It trails behind 2025’s top advance-booking films—Chhava (₹13.79 crore) and Sikandar (₹10.09 crore). Currently, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 holds third place with ₹6.52 crore in pre-sales, but Housefull 5 may catch up by Friday morning, targeting ₹5–6 crore.
Opening Day Predictions
For Thug Life, early estimates suggest the Hindi version may earn ₹1–1.5 crore on its opening day, relying mainly on word-of-mouth and spot bookings.
On the other hand, Housefull 5 is expected to bring in a net collection of ₹20–25 crore on day one, possibly even more than Raid 2’s opening of ₹19.25 crore. Its success, however, still depends on audience reactions and walk-in ticket sales.
Star-Studded Cast of Housefull 5
Alongside Akshay Kumar, the film features an ensemble including Abhishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and many more. The trailer and songs have already received a positive response, boosting its chances at the box office.
