Great news for Grand Theft Auto V players on PC! The free upgrade for GTAV is now available for pre-load via Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam. This new version brings highly requested features, performance upgrades, and more, available for all players who already own GTAV on PC.
What’s New in the GTAV Upgrade?
The new GTAV Enhanced edition comes with exciting features previously available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Some highlights include:
- New vehicles
- Performance upgrades
- Access to GTA+ subscription
The upgrade will be available starting March 4 and is free for existing GTAV PC players.
How Can You Pre-Load the Upgrade?
If you own GTAV, you’ll notice the GTAV Enhanced version is now available in your library. The previous version, GTAV Legacy, will still be supported.
To get ready for the upgrade, you can pre-load the new version now. Just head to the Rockstar Games Launcher or Steam and start the process.
Migrate Your Story Mode Progress Early
You can also begin migrating your Story Mode progress from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced now. Simply go to the Pause Menu in the Legacy version of the game on PC to upload your Save Game. You can overwrite your save multiple times before migrating, but remember:
- You can only migrate your Story Mode progress once to GTAV Enhanced.
- After migration, you can continue from where you left off in GTAV Legacy, but you cannot copy progress back.
How Will GTA Online Progress Be Affected?
Once the upgrade is live on March 4, you’ll also be able to migrate your GTA Online character progress, including:
- Characters
- GTA$
- Stats, Vehicles, Properties, Weapons, Clothing
- Player-Created Jobs
This is a one-time migration from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced, and while it won’t delete your GTAV Legacy progress, it cannot be undone.
Can Console Players Migrate Their Progress?
If you’re playing on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can still migrate Story Mode and Online progress to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, but not to PC. Migration between different console families or from PC to console is not possible.
