Chatbots like ChatGPT save conversation data to improve responses. This means ChatGPT remembers past chats and uses them to generate future replies. However, if you want to stop ChatGPT from storing your chats, OpenAI has introduced a feature called Temporary Chat.
With Temporary Chat, ChatGPT does not record or save any conversations. Each chat session starts fresh, ensuring complete privacy. Once you exit the session, ChatGPT forgets everything, providing a secure experience for users.
No History and No Data Storage
When you enable Temporary Chat, your conversation history will not appear in ChatGPT’s records. OpenAI also states that these chats will not be used for model training. However, for security reasons, OpenAI may keep a temporary copy of chats for 30 days. If no policy violations are found, the data is permanently deleted.
How to Use Temporary Chat on the Web
- Open ChatGPT.
- Click on the version options next to “New Chat” at the top left.
- Toggle Temporary Chat to On.
- Start chatting as usual. Once you exit, your conversation will not be saved.
How to Use Temporary Chat on Mobile
- Open the ChatGPT app.
- Tap on the three dots at the top right of the screen.
- Select Temporary Chat.
- Begin your chat securely, knowing that no data will be stored.
Enjoy Private Conversations
With this feature, you can use ChatGPT without worrying about your chat history being stored. Whether for personal privacy or sensitive topics, enabling Temporary Chat ensures your data remains safe.
