Huawei's New Electric Car Gets Over 100,000 Orders Before Launch

Huawei, in collaboration with Seres, has created a new large-size electric crossover SUV named Aito M8, and it’s already making waves in China. Even before its official launch, the vehicle received over 100,000 pre-orders, showing how excited people are about this new model.

Pre-Order Numbers Break Records

The pre-sale for the Aito M8 began on March 6, with prices ranging between 368,000 to 458,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately USD 50,540 to USD 62,900). According to the company, they received 7,500 orders in the first hour alone.
Within 6 hours, orders hit 21,000 units, and by 12 hours, the number jumped to 28,000. In just two weeks, pre-orders crossed the 70,000 mark, and on April 7, Huawei officially announced that pre-orders had exceeded 100,000.

Big, Bold, and Packed with Features

The Aito M8 is a large SUV with dimensions of 5190mm (length), 1999mm (width), and 1795mm (height). It comes with a 3105mm wheelbase. The SUV features a LiDAR sensor on the roof, striking LED headlight strips, and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels. Other premium touches include tinted rear windows, retractable door handles, and a selection of stylish color options.

Advanced Tech Inside for a Smart Drive

Inside the vehicle, there’s a 75-inch Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) developed by Huawei, alongside a three-screen setup that enhances user experience. The car uses a dual-motor four-wheel drive (4WD) system capable of delivering 392 kW of peak power. Depending on driving conditions, it offers a range of either 201 km or 310 km.

Built by Seres, Powered by Huawei

The Aito brand is the result of a strategic partnership between Huawei and Seres. In this joint project, Seres is responsible for chassis design and production, while Huawei handles smart tech, core components, and sales. These vehicles are available at Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance stores, alongside models from other premium partners like Luxeed and Stellato.

Aito Lineup Expands with M8

Currently, the Aito brand offers three crossover models: Aito M5, M7, and M9. In 2024, total sales for these models reached 385,904 units, according to China EV Data Tracker. Now, Huawei and Seres are ready to launch the Aito M8 as the fourth model, and it’s already gained major attention across China before even hitting the roads.
