Illegal Hundi Transactions in Kathmandu

Police have arrested two people for allegedly being involved in illegal hundi (informal money transfer) transactions and have begun an investigation.

The arrested individuals are 23-year-old Bijay Kumar Rai from Barahapokhari Rural Municipality-2, Khotang, and 28-year-old Khet Raj Shrestha from Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap. They were caught by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.

According to SP and spokesperson Kaji Kumar Acharya, the police seized Rs. 25 lakh from Rai and Rs. 17.19 lakh from Shrestha — a total of Rs. 42.10 lakh in suspected hundi money. They were arrested from the Bishal Bazar area in Kathmandu.

Both have been sent to the District Police Office, Bhadra Kali, Kathmandu for further investigation along with the seized cash.
