The number of students appearing for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from the Gulmi district has increased this year. In the past three years, the number of SEE candidates has been declining.
A total of 4,857 students will participate in the SEE exams starting on Chaitra 7. Among them, 3,526 students are from the general category, while 260 students are from the technical category, according to the Gulmi Education Development and Coordination Unit.
For the grade improvement exams, 993 students from the general category and 72 students from the technical category have applied. Last year, a total of 4,097 students appeared for the SEE, including 3,790 general, 295 technical, and 12 grade improvement candidates.
In previous years, the number of SEE candidates from Gulmi was 4,823 in 2078, 4,722 in 2079, and 4,097 in 2080. Despite the overall increase in the total number of students this year, the number of regular students is decreasing, said Thaneswar Ghimire, head of the education unit.
