India Clinches Back-to-Back ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Title with 9-Wicket Victory Over South Africa

India has won the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title. On Sunday, they defeated South Africa by 9 wickets in the final to claim the title. This is India’s second consecutive U-19 Women’s World Cup victory, having also won the first edition in 2023 by beating England by 7 wickets.

In the final, South Africa set a target of 83 runs, which India chased down in just 11.2 overs, losing only one wicket. Gongadi Trisha played an outstanding knock, scoring 44 runs off 33 balls, including 8 boundaries. Sanika Chalke contributed 26 runs.

For South Africa, Kayla Reyneke was the only bowler to take a wicket. Earlier, South Africa, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, was all out for 82 runs in their 20 overs. Mieke van voorst scored 23, Jemma Botha made 16, and Fay Cowling added 15 runs. The rest of the batters struggled. India’s bowlers, Gongadi Trisha (3 wickets), Vaishnavi Sharma, Aayushi Shukla, and Parunika Sisodia (2 wickets each) were exceptional.
