Indian citizen arrested in Dhanusha for armed robbery

An Indian citizen has been arrested in Dhanusha on charges of robbery at gunpoint. According to police, 23-year-old Vijay Mukhiya from Devdha-8, Madhubani, was taken into custody on Wednesday. He is accused of robbing Ajay Kumar Goit from Janaknandani Rural Municipality-1 on Asar 20. The loot included Rs. 2.16 lakh in cash, a cheque worth Rs. 12.10 lakh, and an iPhone 16.

The incident took place when Goit was on his way to deposit money in the bank, and Mukhiya allegedly blocked his path and threatened him with a pistol before committing the robbery. Dhanusha SP Narhari Regmi described Mukhiya as a professional criminal, stating that he has around 9 to 10 cases filed against him in India.

“Mukhiya commits crimes in India and hides in Nepal, and vice versa,” said SP Regmi. Dhanusha District Court has granted police an extension of five days for further investigation into the case.
