In Jhapa, police have arrested one individual along with an object resembling a rhinoceros horn during an operation to apprehend a drug dealer.
On Wednesday afternoon, the police seized drugs and an item resembling a rhinoceros horn from the Himalayan Guest House in Mechinagar Municipality-6, Kakarbhitta, Jhapa.
The police also arrested Narayan Ramdham, an Indian national who had booked room number 102 at the hotel. He is a resident of Uttar Mendabari in West Bengal.
Acting on a tip-off about drug dealings, a police team arrived at the hotel where Ramdham was staying. According to District Police Office Jhapa spokesperson Mehegi Lhamu Tamang, the police recovered brown heroin, a medicine labeled “Pevan Spas Plus,” and an object resembling a rhinoceros horn from Ramdham’s room. She added that an investigation is underway.
The horn-like object, found inside a carton, has a surface circumference of 18.6 inches, a height of 8.6 inches, and weighs 1.7 kilograms.
Police have stated that confirmation on whether the item is an actual rhinoceros horn will only be made after testing. From the same room, the police also recovered 3.760 grams of brown heroin inside a plastic pouch and 2.800 grams outside the pouch.
Additionally, they seized 18 strips of tablets labeled “Pevan Spas Plus,” a digital weighing scale used for measuring drugs, and two mobile phones.
Spokesperson Tamang mentioned that further investigations are being conducted at the Area Police Office, Kakarbhitta.
