Nepal Police have arrested an Indian citizen for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint in Dhanusha district.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Vijay Mukhiya from Devdha–8, Madhubani district in Bihar, India, was arrested for robbing Ajay Kumar Goit from Janaknandani Rural Municipality–1, Dhanusha. According to the investigation, the incident took place on Asar 20 (early July).
Goit was reportedly on his way to deposit money at a bank when Mukhiya stopped him, pointed a pistol at him, and robbed him of NPR 216,000 in cash, a cheque worth NPR 1.21 million, and an iPhone 16.
DSP Varun Bahadur Singh of Dhanusha Police stated that Mukhiya is a professional criminal with 9–10 cases already registered against him in India. He is currently in custody with a five-day remand granted by the Dhanusha District Court.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway regarding the incident and the suspect’s criminal background.
