New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and British petrochemical company INEOS have reached a settlement after a legal dispute over their sponsorship contract. The two organizations confirmed the resolution in a joint statement released on Monday, though the specific terms remain confidential.

In 2021, Company agreed to become the performance partner for NZR, with the sponsorship running through 2027. As part of the deal, petrochemical company’s branding was featured on the back of playing shorts and training jerseys for New Zealand’s national teams, including the All Blacks and Black Ferns. However, in February, NZR announced that Ineos had failed to pay the first installment of the 2025 sponsorship fee, leading to the company’s decision to exit the agreement early.

British petrochemical company cited the struggles of the European chemicals industry, including high energy and carbon taxes, as reasons for its decision to walk away from the deal. Despite the challenges, both NZR and Ineos expressed satisfaction with the settlement and emphasized their intention to move forward.

With the issue now resolved, both organizations are eager to leave the dispute behind and continue their respective paths in the world of rugby and business.
