The Koshi Province Government has announced that over two dozen projects will move forward through agreements during the Provincial Investment Conference scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
A total of 71 projects will be presented at the first-ever investment conference. Among them, agreements will be signed to advance more than two dozen projects, according to Dr. Saroj Koirala, Chief Executive Officer of the Provincial Investment Authority.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, the authority stated that all preparations for the event have been completed. The conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Projects worth NPR 173.49 billion will be showcased at the conference. These projects span eight sectors: tourism, agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructure, IT services, and more.
To facilitate private sector participation, eight laws were amended through ordinances on Tuesday. Dr. Koirala stated that these legal revisions will eliminate all hurdles previously faced during the investment process.
Investors from countries including China, Russia, the United States, South Korea, and India, as well as Non-Resident Nepalis, will take part in the investment conference. Domestic industrialists will also be in attendance.
Six thematic discussions will be held during the event. These include: the potential of Koshi Province in agriculture and tourism; industrial production and marketing; infrastructure development and energy; and investment opportunities and prospects in health services and medical education.
