IPL 2025: Team-Wise List of Overseas Players Likely to Return for Restart

Some players may be unavailable for the playoffs due to international commitments.

The IPL 2025 is all set to resume on May 17 after a brief suspension due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. With both nations now under a ceasefire agreement, the tournament will go ahead, but the final has been rescheduled to June 3 instead of the original May 25.

The revised dates have sparked uncertainty around the availability of foreign players, especially with England and West Indies set for a white-ball series and Australia and South Africa preparing for the World Test Championship final.

Here’s how each franchise is placed in terms of player availability:

IPL 2025: Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Three overseas players — Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen — have confirmed their return. However, there’s still no clarity on Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis, and Aaron Hardie.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Four players — Josh Hazlewood (Australia), Jacob Bethell (England), Romario Shepherd (West Indies), and Lungi Ngidi (South Africa) — have international duties lined up. Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone haven’t been picked in England’s squad, making them likely to stay.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

All overseas players are expected to return, but Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch might miss the playoffs due to national commitments. Afghan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman is available for the rest of the tournament.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Most overseas players have stayed back in India, but it’s unclear whether Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee, and Sherfane Rutherford will receive NOCs to remain post league stage.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Despite being out of the playoff race, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen will return. The status of Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis, and Wiaan Mulder remains uncertain.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Noor Ahmad, Dewald Brevis, Matheesha Pathirana, Devon Conway, and Sam Curran are expected to rejoin. There is no confirmation yet on Rachin Ravindra and Jamie Overton.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

Mitchell Starc is unlikely to return, and Jake Fraser-McGurk has opted out, with Mustafizur Rahman signed as his replacement. Other overseas players are expected to join soon.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rovman Powell, Quinton de Kock, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are likely to return. However, Moeen Ali and Spencer Johnson’s availability remains unclear.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

All overseas players are likely to return except for Aiden Markram.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

With RR out of the playoff race, most of their overseas players are likely to skip the remaining matches.

As the tournament gears up for its return, the battle for playoff spots could be heavily influenced by which franchises retain their key overseas stars.
