Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched their first victory of the IPL season with a dominant chase, powered by a brilliant knock from Nicholas Pooran.
On Thursday, LSG defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 5 wickets in a high-scoring encounter. Chasing a stiff target of 191, Lucknow reached the total in just 16.1 overs, losing five wickets in the process.
Pooran and Marsh Power LSG to Victory
Nicholas Pooran played a breathtaking innings, smashing 70 runs off just 26 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Mitchell Marsh also made a valuable contribution, scoring 52 off 31 balls, hitting 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 22, while David Miller scored 13*. Captain Rishabh Pant added 15 runs.
SRH Posts Competitive Total
Earlier, after being sent in to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 190/9 in 20 overs. Travis Head was the top scorer with 47 runs, while Aniket Verma (36) and Nitish Reddy (32) provided useful contributions.
Shardul Thakur Stars with the Ball
Lucknow’s Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs. Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Digvijay Rathi, and Prince Yadav chipped in with a wicket each.
With this win, LSG now has 2 points from 2 matches and has climbed to second place in the standings. SRH, also with 2 points from as many games, is currently in sixth place.
