Popular YouTuber Luke Nichols, the creator of the Outdoor Boys channel with 14.8 million subscribers, has announced he’s stepping away from YouTube—for now.
In a heartfelt video titled “Goodbye”, posted on Saturday, Nichols said, “This is going to be my last video for a little while.” After 11 years of creating content, first with Catfishing Carp and then Outdoor Boys, he revealed he’s made a total of 1,110 videos.
A Family Adventure That Became a YouTube Success
Launched in May 2015, Outdoor Boys was a family project involving Luke, his wife Rebecca, and their three sons. Their passion for camping, fishing, hiking, and survival challenges captured the hearts of millions.
Calling it a “wild ride,” Nichols reflected on the hard work and personal challenges behind the scenes—late-night editing, camping while sick, and even building log cabins while injured.
Time to Focus on Family and Helping Others
Now, Nichols says it’s time to shift his focus. “It’s time to step back and focus on helping other people,” he said. His main priority? Helping his three sons, all of whom are interested in becoming YouTubers themselves.
His oldest son, Tom, already has his own channel—Outdoor Tom. Luke wants to spend more time guiding him and preparing him for adult life. “I’ve spent so much time focusing on me,” he admitted.
What About Unfinished Projects?
Nichols mentioned he still has several unfinished videos, including homestead builds, travel adventures, and some extreme camping trips planned over the last six months. If he chooses to finish or film more, he says fans might see a big end-of-year video drop.
“But no matter what,” he added, “this is going to be my last video for a while.”
A Final Message to Fans
In closing, Luke encouraged his viewers to go out and help someone. With a simple and emotional farewell, he said, “I’ll see you guys later.”
