BTS’ J-Hope Stopped by Police at DUI Checkpoint in Taipei During Live Stream

BTS member and rapper J-Hope had an unexpected run-in with the police in Taipei shortly after his Hope on the Stage concert. The incident took place while he was heading back to his hotel and live-streaming with fans on Weverse.

Surprise Police Stop During Live Session

J-Hope’s car was pulled over by local authorities at what later turned out to be a DUI checkpoint. As the stop occurred, the artist—still live with fans—appeared visibly confused and concerned. In the footage, he tried to understand the exchange between the driver and the police officer, but couldn’t grasp the conversation due to the language barrier.

According to a translation by Koreaboo, the driver informed the officer, “He’s a celebrity.” The cop asked if he was a customer, and upon hearing again that J-Hope was a celebrity, responded with a simple, “Celebrity, ok. You can go.” Afterward, the driver explained it was a routine DUI check. J-Hope responded with surprise, saying, “Oh, checking for DUIs? They do that here, too? That’s cool.”

Updates From the Live Session: Health, Mickey, and Travel Plans

During the live, J-Hope also chatted about his concert experience, health, and travel. “The hotel is far, so I thought, why not go live during the ride?” he told fans. Praising Taipei, he added, “I could visit just for travel—the food here is amazing.”

Fans asked about his well-being, especially his knee. He reassured them, saying, “They’re alright! Don’t worry. I’m taking good care of myself.” When someone mentioned his pet dog Mickey, J-Hope revealed that Mickey hasn’t been in the best health lately: “Mickey needs to be healthy, but he is not very healthy these days… Be healthy, Mickey! Let’s live long!”

He also responded modestly to praise about his English skills. When a fan said his English was good, he laughed and said, “Not good.” But when someone called it “very cute,” he agreed with a smile.

As the live session wrapped up, J-Hope expressed his joy from performing in Taipei and shared his next destination: Osaka. “The Osaka venue is big, so I need to rehearse. There’s so much to do,” he said before thanking fans and ending the stream.

BTS Reunion Around the Corner

J-Hope’s solo tour is expected to conclude in June. After that, a long-awaited BTS reunion is on the horizon. Jin and J-Hope, both of whom completed their military service last year, will soon reunite with RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook as they return from duty. The group first debuted in 2013 with 2 Cool 4 Skool, and fans are eagerly awaiting what comes next.
