Jaat Controversy: Bollywood action film Jaat, starring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, is facing backlash from the Christian community after a controversial scene upset religious sentiments. The film, directed by Gopichand Malineni, released in theatres on April 10, 2025.
Jaat Controversy: Christian Community Demands Ban
The controversy is centered around a scene from the trailer and movie where Randeep Hooda’s character is shown standing under a crucifix inside a church, with people praying in the background. The scene includes elements of violence in the sacred space, which the Christian community found deeply offensive.
Members of the community have claimed that the portrayal hurts their religious beliefs and disrespects the sanctity of the church.
Protests and Police Intervention
Protestors were seen chanting slogans like “Randeep Hooda murdabad” in viral videos. Although the community planned to protest outside cinemas, police stepped in and prevented the demonstrations.
Instead, community representatives submitted a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner, demanding a ban on the film and legal action against the filmmakers. They also issued a 48-hour ultimatum, warning that protests will follow if no action is taken.
