Janhvi Kapoor Talks Career Choices and Upcoming Projects: “I Wanted to Prove I’m an Actor First”

Since making her debut in Dhadak (2018), Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi, has made a name for herself in Bollywood with her unique choices of roles and strong performances. She’s impressed audiences with films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Good Luck Jerry, and Bawaal.

Recently, Janhvi was part of a panel discussion titled Women in Entertainment: Redefining the Industry, organized by The Hollywood Reporter India. She was joined by director Kiran Rao, actress Aditi Rao Hydari, and producers Guneet Monga and Archana Kalpathi. During the discussion, Janhvi shared how her main goal after Dhadak was to prove herself as a serious actor rather than just a star.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Focus on Acting Over Stardom

Talking about her early career, Janhvi explained that after her debut, she felt the need to prove herself by showing that she had more to offer as an actor. “I wanted to prove to myself that I’m not just a star, but I have something to add as an actor. I wanted to focus on acting more than fame,” she said.

She also mentioned how she is deeply passionate about the craft of acting and the world of cinema. “I love being a part of stories that mean something to me. I’ve been lucky to get films with well-written characters, which has helped me perform better,” Janhvi added.

Exciting New Projects
On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor has some exciting projects lined up. She will star in the romantic comedy Param Sundari alongside Sidharth Malhotra. The film, named after the famous song from Mimi (2021), will release on July 25. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, this film is sure to bring some fun and romance to the big screen.

Janhvi Kapoor will also reunite with her Dhadak director, Shashank Khaitan, for the upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. This romantic drama, featuring Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, and others, was originally set to release in April but has now been postponed to September 12.
