The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially announced the schedule for the much-anticipated Jay Trophy, a tournament steeped in tradition. Initially set to debut as the Elite Cup, the competition was renamed to honor its historical significance and rich legacy.
The Jay Trophy will feature Nepal’s top four cricketing teams from the Prime Minister’s Cup (PM Cup) National Cricket Tournament: Nepal Police Club (NPC), Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC), Bagmati Province, and Madhesh Province. The games will take place in Janakpur and Parsa, showcasing longer-format cricket played with a red ball and traditional white kits, emphasizing the classic essence of the sport.

The league phase will feature two-day matches, culminating in a three-day final to crown the champion. The tournament kicks off with Madhesh Province squaring off against Bagmati Province and Nepal Police Club taking on Tribhuwan Army Club in simultaneous matches on the opening day.
However, fans of the national cricket team may miss seeing some star players in action. National captain Rohit Paudel, along with standout batters Aasif Sheikh, Sundeep Jora, and Lokesh Bam, will be absent, as their team, the Armed Police Force (APF) Club, fell short of qualification, finishing fifth in the PM Cup.
The tournament will reach its climax with the final, scheduled to be held in Parsa from January 14 to 16. As cricket enthusiasts gear up for this unique event, the Jay Trophy promises not just fierce competition but also a celebration of Nepal’s cricketing heritage.
