ASTRO’s JinJin Exempted from Military Service Due to Health Condition, Agency Confirms

ASTRO’s leader and rapper JinJin will not be fulfilling South Korea’s mandatory military service, as confirmed by his agency Fantagio. The exemption comes after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that makes him medically unfit for enlistment.

Fantagio shared the news with fans through the group’s official fan cafe on June 2. According to the statement, JinJin underwent a detailed evaluation by the Military Manpower Administration, which determined that his health condition prevents him from serving.

“While JinJin’s condition does not significantly impact his everyday life, it requires ongoing hospital visits and consistent monitoring,” the agency explained. “Medical professionals concluded that serving in the military would be difficult under these circumstances, and he was therefore granted an exemption.”

Fantagio emphasized that JinJin’s well-being remains their top priority and thanked fans for their continued support. “We will keep supporting his career while ensuring his health remains a priority. Please continue to show your love for JinJin’s future endeavors.”

This update comes as another ASTRO member, Cha Eun-Woo, gears up for his own enlistment. It was recently confirmed that he will be joining the Army Military Band on July 28, 2025. Meanwhile, MJ has already completed his service. He enlisted on May 9, 2022, and was discharged on November 8, 2023.

With different military timelines unfolding among the group’s members, fans continue to support ASTRO as they navigate both personal and professional milestones.
